Sadly yesterday, one of the possible insidious results of deep endometriosis came sharply into focus as we had to remove the non-functioning left kidney of a 31 year old woman whose deeply infiltrating left uterosacral nodule, obstructing her ureter, had been missed by the general gynaecologist who had been looking after her for several years. Unfortunately the damage was complete and irreversible and we performed a combined robotic case where Mr Chris Anderson first removed the left kidney and then Peter Barton-Smith removed the pelvic disease. Fortunately her right ureter is unaffected and she should make a full recovery.
